What is a Full Smile Makeover?
A full smile makeover is a specially designed treatment plan that combines two or more cosmetic dentistry services to address multiple aesthetic dental imperfections.
This approach can produce the best results and save you money. When you receive only one cosmetic service at a time, it can end up costing more in the long run and sometimes, previous work must be modified or re-done to obtain a uniform beautiful smile.
If you are interested in combining services to address more than one concern, understanding how one procedure is compatible with another, or the ideal order in which to receive treatments, All Smiles Dental Care can help you make the most of the available treatments for a full smile makeover.
Common Treatments Involved in a Full Smile Makeover
Some combination of the following cosmetic dentistry services are often included in a full smile makeover:
Professional Teeth Whitening – Completed prior to any restorations, such as a crown, bridge, or veneers being placed. Professional teeth whitening gel can also be added to the last aligner tray when straightening teeth with clear braces for a bright, completely transformed smile.
Porcelain Veneers – Usually at least two veneers are fabricated to conceal minor imperfections in front teeth like chips, small cracks, permanent discoloration, and even mild misalignment. If you have minor structural flaws in one or two teeth, and external staining on all, professional teeth whitening can be completed before placing veneers for a perfect smile.
Direct Bonding – This is similar to veneers, as a shade-matched, composite resin material is used to conceal minor damage to teeth. Direct bonding can be used on a single tooth or multiple teeth and can produce excellent results that may not last as long as porcelain veneers, but is a good economical option.
Gum Contouring – For patients with a gummy smile, excess gum tissue can be removed, and the gums reshaped to provide a well-balanced smile. This procedure can be combined with restorations and is sometimes necessary for proper placement of dental prosthetics.
Restorations – For severely damaged or missing teeth, life-like crowns, and bridges can restore both function and aesthetics to your smile. A traditional crown repairs a single tooth that has experienced deep decay or trauma. A conventional fixed bridge replaces up to a short row of teeth and is secured to crowns that are affixed to healthy adjacent teeth. For a uniformly brighter smile along with restoration, professional teeth whitening is recommended before shade-matching the crown or bridge.
Implant-Supported Restorations – Crowns and bridges can also use dental implants as a foundation. This method replaces both the visible portion of one or more missing teeth and the roots. Dental implants are the most natural and comprehensive tooth replacement available today. The titanium post stimulates bone growth and prevents the jaw from shrinking and causing a sunken, prematurely aged appearance.
